Semalt Report Center Explained With Live Example

To understand each section of this report center in a better way, we are going to evaluate with a live example. The domain we will be dealing with is semalt.com.

There are five sections in Semalt Report Center. Let's explore them one by one.

№1. Create Report

This section allows you to create a new report and customize it according to your brand. Then, you can download these customized reports either to your computer or send them directly to your clients or business partners via email.

The best thing is that you can change the report language according to your recipient. For example, if the recipient lives in Turkey, you can set the report language to Türkçe.

Creating a new report is a 3-step procedure, and each step has a few options you have to select or fill. Let's discover different options in every step:

Step 1: Report Settings

This step is all about adjusting the main report settings. Here, you must fill or select the following five options:

I. Report Type

Your project might be about enhancing the keywords, improving the load speed, or something else. What you'll require is a different report for each task.

This option allows you to choose from these six types of reports:
  • Keywords in TOP: It introduces you to all the keywords a website or webpage ranks for in the TOP 100 Google organic search results. If your current project is regarding keywords, you'll be requiring this report.
  • Best Pages: It reveals crucial information about your web pages attracting the most traffic from Google in an organic way. If you are working to make your web pages perform better on Google, the "Best Pages" report is for you.
  • Competitors: This report helps you identify the websites, focusing on similar keywords helping you to rank higher, ranking in the TOP 100 organic search results of Google. You'll require this report to outperform your competitors in Google SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages).
  • Page Uniqueness Check: It reveals whether Google considers your webpage content as original or duplicate. This report will ease your job of identifying plagiarized content on a webpage.
  • Page Speed Analyzer: This report helps you find a webpage's load time on desktop and mobile devices. When your job is to identify the factors responsible for slow load speed and improve them, you'll require the Page Speed Analyzer report.
  • Webpage Analyzer: It contains the analysis of a webpage on different parameters, such as performance, on-page SEO, social media presence, and more. If you are determined to find the weak spots of a webpage and make it error-free, it is the report for you.
Note that each of them serves different purposes. Sometimes, a single report might be enough to help you accomplish your objectives, and sometimes you may require more than one to rank higher, excel the search results, beat competitors, etc.

II. Project

It is the second option, and you must fill it manually. By project, it means you have to enter the website's name for which you are going to create a new report.

Whether you own a website, are an SEO specialist, or run a Digital Marketing business, filling this field is mandatory. As we will be getting reports for Semalt, we are going to fill semalt.com in this section.

III. Search Engine

This option gets automatically activated after entering the domain name in the above field. By default, the search engine is google.com (All), International. As Google now allows users to perform searches based on their country, Semalt also gives the option to choose your local search engine.

For example, if you live in Romania and prefer search results from your country, you can select "google.ro (German), Romania" as the search engine. Once you click on the drop-down arrow, you'll find more than 90 search engines.

As Semalt is a global brand, we'll keep google.com (All), International as the default search engine. If you want the report to be according to your country or a specific region, select a relevant search engine.

IV. Report Language

This option allows you to choose the language of the report. It is advantageous when you have clients from another country speaking a language other than yours. Semalt gives you the option to send data and analysis in their language.

It also works to your advantage when your team members are from remote parts of the world.  Currently, you can get the report prepared in the following 15 languages:
  1. English
  2. Русский
  3. Deutsch
  4. Español
  5. Português
  6. Français
  7. Italiano
  8. Dutch
  9. Chinese (汉语)
  10. Turkish (Türkçe)
  11. Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt)
  12. Finnish (Suomen Kieli)
  13. Norwegian (Norsk)
  14. Danish (Dansk)
  15. Swedish (Svenska)
If you are creating a mailing list, it allows you to select a different report language for every recipient. Understanding the pain points and making new strategies becomes super easy when you get these reports in your language.

V. Format

The last option allows you to choose the report's format - PDF or CSV. If you want your clients or team members to focus only on reading the reports, go with the PDF format.

If you want to give them the option to make changes to the report, select the CSV format. Files in CSV format are easily editable via Google Spreadsheets, Microsoft Excel, or any other relevant program.

For semalt.com, the report type is Keywords in TOP, the search engine is google.com (All), the report language is English, and the report format is PDF. It looks like:

Note that these settings are not final. You can change or modify them anytime and as per the requirement.

Step 2: Data Settings

After selecting the options, you should click on the Next button. Then, you'll move to the next step - Data Settings. In this step, you can change the data settings of your report.

For example, if the report type is Keywords in TOP during the first step, the second step allows you to choose further details regarding that report.

These data settings (step 2) won't be available while fetching Page Uniqueness Check and Page Speed Analyzer reports. It is because these reports don't vary much on a weekly or monthly basis.

Data Settings are different for different report types. For example, you need to confirm the following six (6) options when the report type is Keywords in TOP:

I. Include Subdomains

This first option lets you confirm whether the report should include the stats and analysis about subdomains also. If your website has subdomains and you want to know more about them, we suggest enabling this option.

II. Date Range

It allows you to select a specific date range depending upon the type of report. In the date range, you get the option to choose today's date, any recent date, last week, this week, last 30 days, this month, and any custom timeframe (according to the requirement).

The date range dataset is available for the following reports:
  • Keywords in TOP
  • Best Pages
  • Competitors
The date range option won't work for creating the Website Analyzer report. It is because of the less fluctuation observed in this case.

III. Group Of Keywords

The Keywords in TOP report allows you to create a new group of keywords or manage existing ones. In this option, you have to fill the same group of keywords. The default value is All keywords. You can keep the same or change it according to your project.

This option is quite useful when you are targeting specific audiences. For example, if you run an online store for women's beauty products, you can group all the relevant keywords and make sure your report focuses on them.

IV. Rankings

The rank of a website in Google organic search results lets you recognize its position among competitors. The information surrounding rankings helps in evaluating the current keyword strategy and creating a new, successful one.
In data settings, you'll have these options:
  • TOP 1
  • TOP 3
  • TOP 5
  • TOP 10
  • TOP 30
  • TOP 50
  • TOP 100
You won't find this option when the Website Analyzer is the report type. It is because this report doesn't depend on rankings.

V. Dynamics

The dynamics option reveals the change in keywords ranking from time to time. As your report already considers the dynamics factor, there is no need to select it again. You'll find this option is greyed out and won't allow selecting anything.

VI. Sorting

It is the last option and allows you to select the order of keywords. You should choose the one most helpful in fulfilling your objectives. After clicking on the drop-down arrow, you'll get the following options:
  • Popularity - ascending: Selecting this will put your high-ranking keywords first and low-ranking keywords last.
  • Popularity - descending: Selecting this will put your low-ranking keywords first and high-ranking keywords last.
  • Searches - ascending: Selecting this will put your most searched keywords first and least searched keywords last.
  • Searches - descending: Selecting this will put your least searched keywords first and most searched keywords last.
  • Last date - ascending: Selecting this will put your most recent keywords first and oldest keywords last.
  • Last date - descending: Selecting this will put your oldest keywords first and most recent ones first.
For semalt.com, the data settings look like:

As mentioned before, these data settings will be available when the report type selected is Keywords in TOP. When you select a different report type, the data settings will change.

For example, when you select the report type as webpage analyzer for semalt.com, the data settings will look like:

Yes, the data settings for the Webpage Analyzer report are different from Keywords in TOP. They'll be different for other report types.

Step 3: White Label

It is for SEO experts and Digital Marketing Agencies who send self-labeled reports to their clients. Semalt allows you to personalize your report by adding your logo and replacing the text "powered with Semalt" with your own.

This text will get replaced on every page, and your clients won't recognize that the report is originally from Semalt. Moreover, your template gets saved for the future.

In this step, you'll come across three options. Let's understand them one by one:
  • White Label Template
It allows you to replace the default white label template with yours. As mentioned before, this option will be exceptionally beneficial if you are reselling your services and want your branding to appear on reports. If you want to create your custom template, you can do it by just adding your brand's name, logo, and footer text.
  • Logo
In this second option, you don't need to do anything. When you select the White Label Template for your report, the logo will automatically appear. As the default template is Semalt, so you'll see Semalt's logo.
  • Footer
It is the text appearing at the bottom of your reports. You don't need to enter it manually here because it'll also automatically appear after selecting the white label template.

For semalt.com, this section will look like:

Time To Take Action

After dealing with all the options of creating the report, it'll be time to take action.  If you notice the above picture, there are two buttons in the last. Let's see what they do:
  1. Email: You can email the report to five different recipients at a time. It'll also ask you to add the names of recipients and the report's language. You can select a distinct language for each recipient.
  2. Download: It allows you to get the report downloaded to your device in PDF format.

№2. Create Delivery Schedule

In this section, you can create a new report delivery schedule and ensure your customers and business partners get custom branded reports regularly. By creating a delivery schedule, you ease the streamlining process of delivery of crucial information.

Semalt's system is so proficient that your reports (whether daily, weekly, or monthly) get delivered to multiple recipients at the right time. Not only this, you can make changes to the delivery schedule template or cancel it whenever you want.

This section of the Semalt Report Center contains four (4) steps, but three of them were also a part of the Create Report section. So, we are not going to discuss these again:
  1. Report Settings
  2. Data Settings
  3. White Label

Let's jump to the fourth step -

  1. Delivery Schedule: It is useful when you have to send reports to your clients or business partners on a regular basis. Here, you can select the existing template or create a new one.
With Semalt, you don't need to do much because its advanced algorithms take care of the most. You just need to set the delivery frequency and confirm whether a confirmation request before sending the email to recipients is required or not.

Here is what it'll look like:

In this step, you also get a chance to take a look at the sample email reports. When you click on the "Click to see the example of email reports" link at the bottom left, you'll get the options to:
  • Scheduled email report to the account owner with Semalt Label or White Label in PDF or CSV format.
  • Scheduled email report to the account owner with confirmation with Semalt Label or White Label in PDF or CSV format.
  • Scheduled email report to a recipient after confirmation with Semalt Label or White Label in PDF or CSV format.
These examples are advantageous when you are new to scheduling the delivery. They also help in confirming the final look of reports. The default view of this section is:

The content of the email received will look like:

How To Create The Delivery Template?

When you are into the SEO business and have to send reports to your clients or team members, you'll need to create a delivery template that serves your purposes.

If you follow these steps, creating your custom delivery template will become quite simple:

Step 1: Click on Add new template.

Step 2: Enter the name of your delivery template.

Step 3: Now, input the recipient's email and name.

Step 4: Select in which language you want the report to be delivered. You can add as many recipients as you want.

Step 5: After filling in the details of your contacts, select whether the delivery schedule should be daily, weekly, or monthly. Also, finalize which day of the week you want the report to be delivered.

Step 6: If you want a confirmation message before sending the report, click on the checkbox.

Step 7: Finally, click on the Save button.

№3. Report Delivery Schedule

After creating a new report delivery schedule, you'll get redirected to the next section - Report delivery schedule.

In this section, you'll be able to view all your previously-created templates, manage their statuses, and edit as well as delete them. Not only this, the button on the upper-right corner allows you to create new report delivery schedules.

For the delivery schedule created before, this section will look like:

Not only this, the blue button at the top-right allows you to create a new template. When you click on it, this window will appear on your screen:

Semalt understands that best-performing web pages attract more organic traffic than the primary website. That's why, instead of its website ranking higher on Google SERPs, its specific pages targeting crucial keywords rank higher.

Report 4: Use Page Uniqueness Check To Emerge As A Genuine And Trustworthy Source

Whether you are a blogger, product/ service provider, SEO expert, or Digital Marketer, you must always ensure that the content on your (or your client's) website is original and does not break any national or international law.

When it happens, the website will be considered a credible source by search engines and visitors. As a result, the site gets preference over others.

Semalt's Page Uniqueness Check report outlines any duplicate content on a website/ webpage and provides you with an opportunity to prevent it from being punished by search engines.

Let's have a look at the most advantageous components of this report:

Summary

This section reveals how unique is your website's content. Semalt calculates it by analyzing what webpage ranks high for that content on Google SERP. It is because pages ranking higher are considered unique and others plagiarized, except those featuring canonical tags.

Any score above 80% is often considered unique by search engines. You can aim to get a higher score but remember it is very challenging to achieve it because some phrases, navigational elements, and SEO keywords are common among different businesses. If you get a uniqueness score below 80%, do necessary modifications and make sure it is above 80%.

Content Checked For Plagiarism

This section helps you find all the content on a webpage crawled by Googlebot. If there is some plagiarized text on the page, it gets highlighted in this report from Semalt. If you are a content writer or into the business of content writing, this report will help you a lot to make your content plagiarism-free.

Original Content Source

The original content source section helps identify the sites Google considers as primary sources of given content. Not only this, but it also helps you find the percentage of similar content on other websites.

Suppose that your webpage has 5% duplicate content, then you can see it in this report. Mostly, 10% of the matching content is acceptable, but you must be careful and do the needful if it is above 10%.

How To Utilize The Page Uniqueness Report To Your Advantage?

You can either spend a hefty amount on some plagiarism tools providing inaccurate results or get accurate results using the Page Uniqueness Check from Semalt without spending a single penny.

In every field, maintaining the uniqueness of content is crucial, but it is mandatory when the aim is to rank a website higher in search results. Here are a few ways to get the most from Semalt's Page Uniqueness Check report:
  • As this report reveals the duplicate content on a website, you get the opportunity to modify it to unique, engaging, and addressing the requirements of the audience.
  • When you correct all the duplicate content outlined in this report, visitors and Google will consider it a credible source. Not only this, Google will position it higher in search results.
  • The number of visitors to your website will be significantly higher in comparison to your competitors.
  • If there is duplicate text on your website, different types of worries may give you sleepless nights. You can utilize this report to keep such worries at bay.
Whether you are an SEO expert, digital marketer, or reseller, this report helps every role. You can use it to prove that you produce original and non-plagiarized content. Most clients get impressed by this and assign projects.
